Far Infrared Ray Therapy.

What is Far Infrared Rays? When the sun is shining, you can feel warmth overcome you from the inside out. This feeling is caused by far infrared rays. They are waves of energy (from the sun) that are invisible to the naked eye. FIR rays have the longest wavelength and are felt as heat. Solar energy contains FIR rays between the range of 10-20 microns. The human body generates on its own between 8-14 microns (why when in a room full of people, the temperature of the room rises). When the rays' intensity is high, we feel healthy and are able to overcome ailments. When the rays begin to decline, we are subject to disease, illness, low energy, feeling blue and tend to age more quickly.

Why Is FIR important to the human body?  FIR transforms light energy into heat energy once reaching the skin. FIR have the ability to penetrate deep into the body (at least 1 1/2" below the skin surface), gently and delightfully increasing the body's temperature to improve blood circulation, metabolism, getting rid of toxins and metabolic by-products from the body. It also improves cellular vitality among many other things. Just as plants use the sun for photosynthesis to feed and grow, so do we for our bodies to function adequately.

Benefits of FIR?

  • Gently heal, soothe, stimulate and detoxify the body
  • Natural, safe, non-invasive
  • Improve blood oxygen levels
  • Promote muscle relaxation
  • Reduce stress and fatigue
  • Increase blood circulation
  • Reduce joint, and overall, inflammation
  • Promote cell vitality
  • No side effects!
  • and much more.......

Is Far Infrared therapy safe? FIR are not like ultraviolet rays which can burn your skin. They are completely safe, especially since the body naturally emits far infrared heat. These rays are on the spectrum of the sun as healthy rays. NASA has been using it for radiant heat during space travel. Hospitals have also taken advantage of the FIR properties to keep newborn babies warm in incubators.

How is that performed? What device is used to deliver FIR? There are many devices that use this technology. The device I use is called a HotHouse.  It is a hollow shaped dome (arch) a person can lay under.  The inside surface of the dome is covered with a very fine, multi faceted silicon surface (made of crystals) to deliver the rays in all directions (like the sun). It is very safe and easy to use. The proper wavelength and special reflective silicon surface are very important in the effectiveness of the FIR therapy. Sessions range from a minimum of 15mn to a  maximum of an hour.  The area treated will feel warm and a very slight reddening of the skin is normal. Undressing is not required. Loose fitting clothing is suggested.

As with many other treatments/therapies, this device should not be used on an individual with any acute diseases/illnesses, open sores, severe and untreated heart conditions, have a pacemaker or have severe/untreated high blood pressure.  Make sure to mention if you have any of those conditions to the therapist.
